    • • Taken against a light grey or cream background;
    • • Without a border;
    • • A close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph;
    • • In sharp focus and clear;
    • • Be undamaged (not torn, creased or marked);
    • • Subject facing forward, looking straight at the camera;
    • • 4,5 cm high x 3,5 cm wide;
    • • Show your natural skin tone;
    • • Have appropriate brightness and contrast;
    • • Be a recent true likeness of the subject, taken within the last 6 months;
    • • Show the full head, without any covering unless worn for religious or medical reasons (if a headscarf is worn chin, nose, eyes and eyebrows must not be covered; the forehead should be uncovered to the extent that the shape of the face is apparent);
    • • Taken without hat or cap;
    • • The eyes must not be covered by hair;
    • • Show subject facing square on to the camera, not looking over the shoulder or tilted, and showing both edges of the face clearly;
    • • Free from effects such as shadows, ‘redeye’ or airbrushing;
    • • Photos must be taken without glasses
    • • Of each person on their own (and without objects such as dummies or toys, or other people visible);
    • • With a neutral expression with the mouth closed (no grinning, frowning or raised eyebrows);
    • • Be free from airbrushing or similar enhancement (for example photographs must not be ‘photo-shopped’, ‘touched-up’ or otherwise digitally altered).
